Suzuki APV Overview

For a common hard-working Filipino, balancing work, family, and leisure is a tedious task. That’s why Suzuki Philippines made an effort to ease things up with their most versatile model, the APV. Given its boxy dimensions, the Suzuki APV does boast in terms of generous interior space. It’s an all-purpose vehicle by design, thus its name, and it can seat up to 8 people with extra room for luggage or bulk numbers of merchandise for business. It can also be of great use as a family van.

Powering the Suzuki APV is a 1.6-liter SOHC 16-valve engine that has a 5-speed manual transmission. With its vast cabin space and functionality, tried and tested durability, and power figures reaching 91 hp and 127 Nm of torque, the APV certainly is more than capable of surviving the daily grind to arrive home, freshen up a bit, and be on the road all over again to celebrate life with loved ones.

Launch

The first model of the Suzuki APV was launched in 2004, with a facelift following in 2007. The nameplate is still being sold today, over a decade later.

Platform, Chassis and Powertrain

When it comes to the chassis, the Suzuki APV shares its bones with the Suzuki Super Carry, which makes this vehicle a capable hauler for people or cargo. Dimensions of the vehicle come in at a length of 4,320 mm, a width of 1,865 mm, a wheelbase of 2,625 mm, which rides on a total of 180 mm of ground clearance. The suspension system features a MacPherson strut in the front, while the rear has a rigid axle with leaf springs for base variants and a 3-point coil spring setup. A pair of disc brakes are found in the front, while the rear features a set of drum brakes. Lower trims roll on a set of 14-inch steel wheels while the top-of-the-line trim comes with a 15-inch alloy set.

All models will come with Suzuki’s G16A gasoline engine. The motor is a 4-cylinder SOHC that produces 91 hp and 127 Nm of torque. The sole transmission on offer from Suzuki Philippines is a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine is located under the driver’s seat and sends power to the rear wheels.
